Job Description
CNC Programmer / Setter - Siemens ShopMill
Up to £25 per hour | 40-hour working week | Free parking
Our client is looking for a CNC Programmer / Setter to join their busy engineering team, working with CNC milling machines to produce high-quality components to engineering drawings.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC professional, or someone looking to develop their skills further, to join an established team where technical ability, attention to detail and a hands-on approach are valued.
Our client is particularly interested in candidates with Siemens ShopMill experience, but is also open to considering individuals with a strong CNC machining background and transferable programming skills.
The Role
- Programming and setting CNC milling machines to produce components in line with engineering drawings.
- Writing and modifying CNC programs to ensure components are produced accurately and efficiently.
- Interpreting technical drawings and checking completed work against drawing specifications.
- Preparing and setting up jobs for machine operators to run independently.
- Applying a good understanding of machining processes, tooling and cutting conditions.
- Working independently, managing priorities and maintaining high standards of quality.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in CNC machining, programming and/or setting.
- Ideally, experience with Siemens ShopMill programming, although candidates with experience using other CNC controls will also be considered.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- A good understanding of machining processes, tooling and cutting conditions.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, quality and preparing jobs for production.
You don't need to tick every box to be considered. Our client is happy to consider candidates with different levels of experience, whether you have strong Siemens ShopMill knowledge, a solid CNC background with less programming experience, or are looking to build on your existing skills.
Experience with Fusion 360 for offline programming would be advantageous but is not essential.
What's on Offer?
- Up to £25 per hour, depending on experience.
- 20 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Auto-enrolment pension.
- 40-hour working week.
- Free on-site parking.
