About this role

This is a three-month contract for a Commissioning Engineer based in East Kilbride, with travel to sites throughout Scotland. The day rate is £350 to £380. The role involves carrying out commissioning activities across electrical and instrumentation systems, working with MCCs and electrical control systems, and undertaking testing and fault finding to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently. The postholder will support site installation, commissioning and handover activities, complete commissioning documentation, test records and reports, and ensure all work complies with relevant safety procedures and industry standards. Experience in the water industry is required.

Commissioning Engineer - Electrical / Instrumentation

Location: East Kilbride - Scotland-wide site travel

Contract: 3 Months

Rate: Day Rate - Dependent on Experience (DOE)

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our client on an initial 3-month contract, based in East Kilbride, with travel to sites throughout Scotland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased Commissioning Engineer with experience in the water industry, particularly those familiar with Scottish Water projects and associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities


  • Carry out commissioning activities across electrical and instrumentation systems.

  • Work with MCCs, electrical control systems and associated equipment.

  • Undertake testing, fault finding and commissioning to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.

  • Support site installation, commissioning and handover activities.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety procedures and industry standards.

  • Complete commissioning documentation, test records and reports.

  • Travel to various sites throughout Scotland as required.



Essential Skills & Experience


  • Electrically biased Commissioning Engineer with relevant industry experience.

  • Practical experience with instrumentation, MCCs and electrical systems.

  • Previous experience working within the water or wastewater industry.

  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites.

  • Full understanding of site health and safety requirements.

  • Flexibility to travel throughout Scotland.



Scottish Water experience would be highly advantageous.

Required Tickets / Certifications

Candidates should hold relevant certifications, ideally including:


  • Confined Space

  • DOMS

  • Water Hygiene

  • CSCS Card



Contract Details


  • Initial 3-month contract.

  • Day rate dependent on experience.

  • Based in East Kilbride, with Scotland-wide site travel.
