Design Engineer - Steel

This role is for an experienced Structural Steel Design Engineer to join a national steelwork contractor delivering complex projects across the UK, based in Middlesbrough. Responsibilities include structural steel design using industry software, applying loadings, calculating stresses and load paths, interpreting drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with UK standards and health and safety. You will liaise with clients and project teams and support tenders with progress updates. The position offers a salary of £60,000 to £70,000 per annum, private healthcare and a pension.

Structural Steel Design Engineer

JN Technical is recruiting an experienced Structural Steel Design Engineer for a national steelwork contractor delivering complex projects across the UK.

Role:

• Structural steel design using industry software

• Apply loadings, calculate stresses and load paths

• Interpret drawings and specifications

• Ensure compliance with UK standards and H&S

• Liaise with clients and project teams

• Support tenders and provide progress updates

Requirements:

• Extensive UK steelwork industry experience

• Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (or equivalent)

• Strong structural mechanics and design calculation skills

• Software experience: Tekla Structural Designer (Fastrak), Fastrak Portal Frame, MasterFrame / STAAD Pro, MasterSeries Connections
