HGV Technician

This HGV Technician role is based in Barnsley, working Monday to Friday on rotating shifts of 7:00am to 3:30pm or 12:00pm to 8:30pm, plus one in three Saturday mornings. The position offers £46,467 to £54,500 per annum, with overtime available at 1.5x. Responsibilities include servicing, maintenance, inspection and repair of a varied fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment, covering HGV units, trailers and plant, along with planned preventative maintenance. The role provides 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays and the chance to work within a fleet environment on a diverse range of vehicles.

The Role

• As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, inspection and repair of a varied fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment.
• You'll have the opportunity to work across HGV units, trailers and plant
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HGVs, trailers and plant
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
• Carrying out routine servicing and inspections
• Completing repairs efficiently and to a high standard
• Carrying out safety inspections and defect rectification
• Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults
• Working on braking, suspension, steering and other vehicle systems
• Carrying out maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet of trailers and units
• Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety requirements
• Completing relevant maintenance and inspection documentation accurately

• Has previous experience working on HGVs, commercial vehicles, trailers or plant
• Has strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship
• Can work independently and as part of a team
• Is reliable, professional and safety-conscious
