About this role

This is a hands-on role involving the mechanical build, electrical assembly, pneumatic assembly and testing of machinery and equipment. Working from engineering drawings and wiring diagrams through to completed, tested assemblies, you will carry out mechanical and electrical assembly and fault finding, basic electrical wiring and termination, pneumatic assembly and equipment testing, plus inspection, adjustment and functional testing. The position is based in Waterlooville on a permanent basis, with a salary of £30000 per annum. You will join an established engineering business, working within a small team that has recently won several new contracts.

Workshop Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Fitter to join an established engineering business in Waterlooville. This is a great opportunity to work within a small team that has recently won several new contracts.

This is a hands-on role involving the mechanical build, electrical assembly, pneumatic assembly and testing of machinery and equipment. You will work from engineering drawings and wiring diagrams through to completed, tested assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical and electrical assembly and fault finding
  • Basic electrical wiring and termination
  • Reading mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Pneumatic assembly and equipment testing
  • Inspection, adjustment and functional testing
  • Safe use of hand tools, power tools and test equipment
  • Maintaining a safe and organised workshop

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous mechanical/electrical fitting or engineering experience
  • Able to read engineering drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Engineering qualification such as NVQ or City & Guilds desirable
  • Manufacturing or engineering background preferred
  • Practical, reliable and self-motivated
  • Good attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Flexible approach and willingness to learn
