About this role

This role covers Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, Early Years Manager and Senior Early Years Lead positions across settings in Elstree, Borehamwood and Shenley. Based in Borehamwood, the full-time, permanent post offers £35,000 to £45,000 per annum over 40 hours per week. You will support the Nursery Manager and lead the setting in their absence, overseeing planning, delivery and monitoring of the EYFS curriculum, and leading and supervising staff, students and volunteers. You will maintain staffing ratios, support performance management, lead behaviour management and inclusive practice, and ensure safeguarding, welfare and compliance at all times.

Job Description

Nursery Manager / Deputy Manager / Early Years Manager / Senior Early Years Lead

Location: Based in one of four settings in Elstree / Borehamwood / Shenley

Hours: 40h per week ( Permanent, Full Time )

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above)
  • Experience leading or supporting management in an EYFS setting
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, SEN and child development
  • Experience supervising staff and managing performance
  • Confident communicator with strong parent partnership skills
  • IT competent (Microsoft Office; Tapestry desirable)

Role Overview

You will support the Nursery Manager and lead the setting in their absence, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding and curriculum delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, delivery and monitoring of the EYFS curriculum
  • Lead and supervise staff, students and volunteers
  • Maintain staffing ratios and support performance management
  • Lead behaviour management and inclusive practice
  • Ensure safeguarding, welfare and compliance at all times
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and external agencies
  • Attend training, meetings and contribute to continuous improvement
