Process Design Engineer

This Process Design Engineer role in Ilkeston sits within the Design Team of a leading Design & Build contractor, contributing to the design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects. Responsibilities include supporting the design of treatment processes, developing process flow diagrams, mass balances, P&IDs and hydraulic calculations, and assisting with process sizing, design specifications and HAZOP studies. You will prepare technical documentation, process descriptions and reports, and work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects in line with client requirements and regulatory standards. The position offers hybrid working, with a salary of £40,000–£45,000 per annum.

Advance TRS are supporting a leading Design & Build contractor who are looking for a Process Design Engineer to join its Design Team.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects, working alongside experienced engineers on innovative and sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design of water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Develop process flow diagrams, mass balances, P&IDs and hydraulic calculations.
• Assist with process sizing, design specifications and HAZOP studies.
• Prepare technical documentation, process descriptions and reports.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects in line with client requirements and regulatory standards.
• Support process troubleshooting and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.

About You

• 3-5 years' experience in process engineering, ideally within the water or wastewater sector.
• A degree in Chemical, Process, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
• Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes and relevant regulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.
