About this role
This is a Rail Signalling Design Engineer role based in Croydon, offering £50,000 to £70,000 per annum. You will produce and check signalling designs, including scheme plans, interlocking data, control tables and circuit diagrams, working on conventional and computer-based interlocking systems such as SSI, Westlock or Smartlock. You will ensure designs meet Network Rail standards and signalling principles, carry out site surveys and support installation, testing and commissioning. The role also involves working with telecoms, power and civils teams on multidisciplinary projects, and providing design office cover during commissioning, including some out-of-hours work.

What you will do
- Produce and check signalling designs: scheme plans, interlocking data, control tables and circuit diagrams
- Work on conventional and computer-based interlocking (SSI, Westlock, Smartlock or similar)
- Make sure designs meet Network Rail standards and signalling principles
- Carry out site surveys and support installation, testing and commissioning
- Work with telecoms, power and civils teams on multidisciplinary projects
- Provide design office cover during commissioning, including some out-of-hours work
What you need
- 3+ years in UK rail signalling design
- IRSE licence (Designer, Checker or Verifier) or able to gain one quickly
- Strong knowledge of Network Rail signalling standards
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in electrical or electronic engineering
- Able to obtain a PTS (Personal Track Safety) card
Nice to have
- ETCS or digital signalling experience
- Experience as Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE)
- IEng or CEng with the IRSE or IET, or working towards it
