About this role

This role is for a SEN Teaching Assistant in East Sussex, supporting young people aged approximately 11-19 with learning difficulties, autism, communication needs and additional SEN. Working across specialist schools and secondary settings, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support, assist pupils within lessons, and differentiate and adapt activities. You will encourage independence, support communication, and help pupils develop life and social skills, as well as supporting emotional regulation and behaviour. The position is full-time, long-term or supply, with immediate and ongoing opportunities, paying £92.54 to £105 per day depending on experience.

Academics are currently recruiting Secondary SEN Teaching Assistants to work across specialist schools and secondary settings in East Sussex.

We're looking for candidates who are passionate about supporting young people aged approximately 11-19 with learning difficulties, autism, communication needs and additional SEN.



The pupils may have:

  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Autism / ASD
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Specific Learning Difficulties
  • ADHD
  • SEMH
  • Behavioural needs
  • EHCPs and individual learning plans

You could be supporting pupils with both their academic and personal development, helping them access lessons, develop independence and prepare for life beyond school.



Your responsibilities may include:
