About this role

SEN Post-16 Teacher

Prospero Teaching is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Secondary / Post-16 Teacher to join a specialist provision supporting young people with additional needs preparing for adulthood, further education, and independent living.

The provision caters for students aged 11-19 with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and SEMH needs. The school is committed to providing a structured, supportive, and engaging environment that equips students with both academic knowledge and essential life skills.

The Role

As an SEN Secondary / Post-16 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to students working at a range of academic levels. You will support learners in developing key academic, vocational, social, and life skills to prepare them for future success.



Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons for SEN learners aged 11-19
  • Supporting students with EHCPs and individual learning targets
  • Developing students' communication, independence, and life skills
  • Preparing learners for further education, employment, and adulthood
  • Working closely with support staff, therapists, and parents
  • Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate pupil records
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Experience & Qualifications

  • QTS, QTLS, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching within SEN, Secondary, or Further Education settings
  • Understanding of Autism, Learning Difficulties, and SEMH needs
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
