Job Description

Transport Administrator

We are recruiting for a Transport Administrator to join our client, a well-established and growing business based in Markfield, Leicester. This is a varied and busy role supporting the day-to-day coordination of vehicles, drivers, deliveries and collections.

Working closely with drivers, customers, suppliers and internal teams, you'll play an important part in ensuring transport operations run smoothly and efficiently. You'll be responsible for maintaining accurate records, coordinating schedules, monitoring deliveries and providing administrative support to the wider transport team.

As a Transport Administrator you will need to have/be:

andmiddot; Previous experience in transport, logistics, fleet administration, administration or a similar operational environment

andmiddot; Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy

andmiddot; Good communication skills with a professional telephone and email manner

andmiddot; Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and database systems

andmiddot; Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a busy environment

andmiddot; Proactive approach with the ability to identify and resolve issues

andmiddot; Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team

Role of Transport Administrator

andmiddot; Assisting with the planning, scheduling and coordination of daily transport operations, including deliveries, collections, vehicles and drivers

andmiddot; Communicating schedules, timings and instructions to drivers and keeping customers updated on deliveries and potential delays

andmiddot; Monitoring vehicle movements, delivery progress and transport schedules, following up on late, missed or unsuccessful deliveries

andmiddot; Maintaining accurate transport, vehicle, driver, customer and delivery records, including licences, training and proof-of-delivery information

andmiddot; Preparing transport documentation, updating databases and spreadsheets, and producing regular transport reports

andmiddot; Recording vehicle mileage, fuel usage, defects and maintenance requirements, and arranging servicing, inspections and repairs

andmiddot; Monitoring MOT, insurance, inspection and other vehicle documentation to support transport compliance

andmiddot; Acting as a point of contact for customers, drivers, suppliers and internal teams, dealing with queries and resolving delivery discrepancies

andmiddot; Checking transport and subcontractor invoices against agreed rates and completed work, assisting with any discrepancies or financial queries

andmiddot; Assisting with audits, compliance checks and maintaining required transport documentation

andmiddot; Reporting accidents, incidents, near misses and health and safety concerns appropriately

andmiddot; Supporting the Transport Manager and wider operations team with general administration and additional duties as required

Desirable:

andmiddot; Previous experience within a transport, logistics, distribution, fleet or haulage environment

andmiddot; Knowledge of drivers' hours and working time regulations

andmiddot; Experience using transport management, fleet management or logistics software

andmiddot; Experience coordinating drivers, vehicles, deliveries or collections

andmiddot; Experience dealing with vehicle maintenance, servicing, MOTs or insurance

andmiddot; Understanding of transport compliance and health and safety requirements

Details of working as a Transport Administrator:

Salary: Starting from £26,000, depending on experience

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, full time

Location: Markfield, Leicester

Duration: Permanent
