UI Engineer (embedded in domain)

This is a six-month contract for a UI Engineer embedded in a dedicated squad in London, working remotely on the C2C Finance Companion, an AI suite assisting finance teams with contract booking, billing and collections. You will build production-grade domain screens and AI chat interfaces, including streaming responses, confirmation flows and error handling, and migrate existing standalone front ends into a centralised React shell without downtime, decommissioning legacy versions. The role involves consuming and upstreaming shared UI components using design tokens, partnering with Go engineers to integrate GraphQL queries and real-time subscriptions, and ensuring quality through automated testing, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility and web vitals optimisation. The rate is £50–£55/hour inside IR35 via umbrella.

Role Overview:

Key Responsibilities

• Build production-grade domain screens and AI chat interfaces (streaming responses, confirmation flows, error handling).
• Migrate existing standalone front ends into the centralized shell and decommission legacy versions.
• Consume and upstream shared UI components using design tokens.
• Partner with Go engineers to integrate GraphQL queries and real-time subscriptions.
• Ensure UI quality through automated testing, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, and web vitals optimization.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years building production apps with React and TypeScript.
• Experience with Tailwind CSS, headless UI libraries (Radix UI or shadcn/ui), and Apollo Client (GraphQL).
• Modern testing and build tooling: Vitest, Testing Library, Playwright, and Vite.
• Experience with enterprise browser auth via Microsoft Entra ID (MSAL).

Nice to Have

• Front-end consolidation or micro-frontend migrations.
• AI/conversational UI design.
• Data-dense dashboards (tables, queues, approval flows).
• Finance, ERP, or order-to-cash domain exposure.
