Vehicle Fitter

This Vehicle Fitter role in Old Harlow sits within an established and growing business that specialises in fitting a wide range of accessories and safety systems to commercial vehicles. You will fit and install vehicle accessories, including tow bars, roof bars, racks and security locks, and install dash cams, reversing cameras, sensors, alarms and tracking systems. You will also assist with vehicle conversions. The company seeks a practical, enthusiastic and reliable person with a hands-on approach and a genuine willingness to learn a new trade. Full training will be provided. Salary is £28000 - £35000 per annum.

The Role

We're looking for a practical, enthusiastic and reliable Vehicle Fitter to join the team.

We're looking for someone with transferable skills, a hands-on approach and a genuine willingness to learn a new trade.

You will have experience in construction, electrical work, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, mechanics or installation. Alternatively, you might simply enjoy working with tools, fixing things and learning how things work.

Full training will be provided, giving you the opportunity to learn from experienced technicians and develop your skills in vehicle fitting.

What You'll Be Doing

• Fitting and installing vehicle accessories, including tow bars, roof bars, racks and security locks.
• Installing dash cams, reversing cameras, sensors, alarms and tracking systems.
• Assisting with vehicle conversions, including ply lining and internal racking.
• Installing vehicle lighting and safety equipment.
• Checking installations, testing equipment and helping identify faults.
• Following fitting instructions, technical guidance and wiring diagrams as your skills develop.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and customer service.

Essential skills and requirements:

• A practical, hands-on approach and an interest in learning how things work.
• Confidence using hand tools, or a willingness to develop these skills.
• Good attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
• A positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
• The ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• A full, clean UK driving licence, with at least three years' driving experience.
• Confidence driving a short-wheelbase commercial vehicle.
• Your own basic hand tools; specialist tools will be provided.

Previous experience in vehicle fitting or auto electrics is desirable but not essential. Transferable skills from practical or technical roles are encouraged.
