TeacherActive is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN TA to join a specialist school in Epsom, Surrey, starting ASAP.

The school provides specialist education and support for pupils with autism and a range of additional learning needs. The successful SEN TA will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive, structured and nurturing learning environment where pupils can develop academically, socially and emotionally.

As an SEN TA, you will provide individual and small-group support, helping pupils engage with learning and develop their communication, confidence and independence. You will adapt your approach according to each pupilandrsquo;s individual needs and provide consistent support throughout the school day.

You may also support pupils with sensory regulation, emotional development and behaviour, using positive strategies to help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

The successful SEN TA will have:

andbull; Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
andbull; Experience supporting pupils with Autism/ASC
andbull; A patient, calm and caring approach
andbull; Confidence providing 1:1 and small-group support
andbull; An understanding of different communication and learning needs
andbull; Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
andbull; The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
andbull; Excellent communication and teamwork skills
andbull; A reliable, resilient and adaptable approach
andbull; A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
andbull; An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
andbull; The right to work in the UK

Key Responsibilities:

andbull; Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
andbull; Support pupils with autism and additional learning needs
andbull; Assist pupils with classroom activities and individual learning programmes
andbull; Adapt activities and resources according to individual needs
andbull; Encourage communication, engagement and independence
andbull; Support pupils with emotional and sensory regulation
andbull; Promote positive behaviour using appropriate strategies
andbull; Help pupils develop social and life skills
andbull; Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
andbull; Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals
andbull; Monitor pupilsandrsquo; engagement and progress
andbull; Help maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
andbull; Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise pupil wellbeing

andbull; The role is based in Epsom, Surrey
andbull; Previous SEN, school, care or youth-work experience is highly desirable
andbull; Candidates with experience supporting autism are particularly encouraged to apply
